    Hello,

I am Alexia’s mum and I was very surprised to see a picture of Alexia with a short text on your website. I attended the Branford Boase Award Party with Alexia but I don’t remember meeting you during the party. Alexia is very surprised to see you have put a picture of her on your website and she feels rather flattered by this. She would like to communicate with you as she is interested in meeting as many writers as she possibly can.
    Many thanks
    Isabelle Sloane

      Hello Isabelle

Sorry I couldn’t respond to this sooner – and I was sorry I didn’t get a chance to meet Alexia at the party. I wanted to make sure that all the prize-winning children were included in my blogpost on the party, and I’m glad to say that the BBA/HBWC organisers were very happy for me to use the ‘official’ photographs from the event. I’m so pleased that Alexia is happy about this and would certainly love to hear from her – lydia.syson@hotkeybooks.com. I’m not sure where you live, but the next public event I’ll definitely be doing about ‘A World Between Us’ is on 7th December, as part of the 75th anniversary commemorations of the International Brigaders’ return to Britain – details in the ‘events’ section on this website. But I have a new book out this October, so there may well be other opportunities to meet soon.

      all the best,

      Lydia

Sorry I forgot to say that her novel is also historical fiction and follows the story of two children during the second world war who are saved by the Nazis. Alexia would love to read ‘A world between us’ but since only 7% of all print books are available in Braille, it is not possible for her to do so unfortunately. Does your book exist in audio format and unabridged?
        Many thanks
        All the best
        Isabelle

PS Perhaps you only saw the picture of Alexia, and didn’t realise it was part of a full report on the party? http://www.lydiasyson.com/branford-boase-award-party/

    Dear Lydia,

Thank you so much for your reply. I only saw the picture of Alexia and did not realise it was part of a full report on the party.
We live in Cambridge and Alexia would love to keep in contact with you. She has almost finished her first novel and writing, together with languages, is her biggest passion. She has a website in case you are interested in finding out more about her. This is the address: http://www.alexiasloane.wordpress.com. The website is in need of serious updating but it does give some background on her.
    Many thanks
    Best wishes,
    Isabelle

      Dear Isabelle

Thanks so much for sending the link to Alexia’s website – what a fabulous writer she is! I can’t wait to read her novel. Do wish her lots of luck with those difficult final stages! I’m glad to say that ‘A World Between Us’ is indeed available as an audiobook, unabridged: http://www.amazon.co.uk/World-Between-Us-Lydia-Syson/dp/1471400093 I wish it were also available in Braille, and will try to find out more about this! I’m crossing my fingers for an audio contract for my next book, ‘That Burning Summer’, also set in WW2.

I’ll email you directly with my home email.

      best wishes,

      Lydia
